  1. Can we watch the flash gordon movie when i'm up there? i saw it on I LOVE THE 80's (i think) and it looks horribly cheesy (which means amazing).

  2. Y-E-S! Its awesome. Its got Brian Blessed. Who if I had my pick would play volstaag in the new thor movie. Regardless of his age. Seriously. His role in that movie is Volstaag.

    See for yourself.

  3. Dude, let me just say...if you're watching Flash Gordon for the first time, don't go in expecting horribly cheesy. It only limits your experience! Go into that movie expecting a totally INCREDIBLE adventure. Because you ARE going to have an incredible adventure. This movie has spaceships and Queen music and Hawkmen and Timothy Dalton as a Tree-person, and there's a guy who looks a lot like Doctor Doom except he looks ten times better than the FF movie's Doctor Doom ever did. It should be like you're going to see Star Wars for the first time!

    ...

Actually, you know, that bit where they rewind through Zarkoff's brain and you see the Holocaust and his wife's funeral is a legitimate brain-melter. Like, what's THIS stuff doing in THIS movie?

  4. You know what, though, if Brian Blessed's too old to be Volstagg, I think he could've pulled off Odin as well. Man...they cast a tasteful, restrained actor like Anthony Hopkins as Odin? You need a guy like Blessed to bellow at the top of his lungs: "THOR, MY SON! HEED MY WORDS! I HAVE URGENT NEED OF THEE IN ASGARD!" No subtlety is required.

  5. THANK YOU! That has been my argument all along. I like anthony hopkins, but he is certainly not odin. Odin is a wise but loud mouth braggart. He drinks to excess and parties on the battle field. He is Brian Blessed. Like literally Odin came to earth disguised as a human and is actually brian blessed. Don't believe me? Go watch Flash Gordon or Black Adder.

  7. Its embarrassing to publicly admit I don't own it. But sure.

But then again I don't own legit copies of tng either. I'm waiting for nonphysical high res copies to be available. They're not tricking me into spending hundreds on dvd when the format itself is doomed and I'd just have to rebuy everything on the next format. I'm not going to get "Lucassed" again.
